With references from the above, we could see that the government had shown concern and taking steps to get back this kampong spirit which was lost to many. Maybe it is due to the infrastructure of staying in HDB where we all live our own life with door close after we reached home or people had changed to be more entangled in the hustle and bustle with the fast paced work in Singapore when finding work life balance is still a challenge for many.
Many a times, we forgot to slow down to listen to people around us, to see the struggles of people, to show empathy, to love regardless of gender/race/religion/age/culture and coming forward to lend a helping hand no matter how small it is. Even a simple smile to a stranger would make an impact to his/her day. The best things in life are priceless. Love.Faith.Joy.Hope
I was encouraged and motivated to share this photo story contest when I saw KiasuParents having it. It had been a long time since I entered in any contest. I felt that the intention to encourage parents to openly share their parenting experiences and knowledge with others and rekindle the kampong spirit amongst parents in Singapore was certainly worth my effort in sharing.
Enough of my thoughts. Allow me to share more about this competition:
This competition includes a photo story competition for parents to share inspiring photos of themselves working or having fun with their children, between 22 May 2017 to 21 June 2017. Entries must be accompanied with a photo story to share their parenting experience.
A total of $10,000 cash prizes has been set aside for the winners. To qualify, all participants need to do is share their entries on social media, either on Facebook or Instagram, with the key hashtags #KiasuParents, #KindredSpiritParents, #AXA and #FlyingCape and encourage their friends to go to the contest microsite to ‘Like’ their favourite photo.
A total of 100 entries will be shortlisted as finalists based on the most number of ‘Likes’. These 100 chosen entries shall be posted on the contest microsite for public voting between 23 June 2017 to 9 July 2017. Winners will be chosen based on a combination of popularity votes and organisers’ judging scores. Members who vote for the winning entries will stand to win prizes too.
A prize giving ceremony cum photo exhibition will be held on 15 July 2017 at Lattice80, #08-01, 80 Robinson Road.
