Happy Farmers’ Market day! Support Local Produce!

After one long week of hectic events, I decided to spend this last weekend of Jayden’s school holiday without the bustle of the shopping centre. Chanced upon this event on the facebook and decided to expose the kids to the fresh produce. The kids were all so excited on the farm trip and it does not take much effort for them to take this selfie with me. Bonus!

There is a free shuttle service from Yew Tee mrt to the Farmers’ Market.

Oh boy, I did not expect such a crowd for this event. Its encouraging to know that the locals are supporting local produce. Loads of sample, natural organic produce and friendly farmprenuers all excited to share their own pride.

One of the stalls that I am impressed with is The Fish Farmer. The CEO Malcolm Ong is very helpful and advised on the best way to prepare the fishes. There were cooked fish, mussels and even abalone samples for the potential customers.  I bought 4 mullets from him and wanted to buy the mussels at $5 but sadly its sold out though. The business was bustling with many customers patronizing him. I love the fact that their fishes are reared without injections, vaccinations and chemicals.

“We are a Singapore based fishery company whose main business is rearing and marketing of seafood. Metropolitan Fishery Group (MFG) is the major shareholder of Singapore’s largest marine fish farm. We produce Grey Mullet and Milk Fish which we supply fresh to to all countries. We rear fish in a farming methods which are Green and kind to our Environment, all our fish are reared without injections, vaccinations and chemicals. The average size of the fish upon harvest is 500g and our main distribution of seafood to wholesale and supermarkets.” Source: The Fish Farmer
